I think the history of the Zombie Zoo is fascinating.
It all began with an actress named Emma Watson. I'm not sure if you've heard of her. She was a British actress and was in the Harry Potter films. I'm sure you've heard of those.
Anyway, in the first days of the Zombie outbreak; people found her walking around. This one family was about to shoot her in the head. Then the youngest kid screamed. "No, that's Hermione!"
The father said it didn't matter. She wasn't Hermione any more. But then a crowd had formed, and the mob was not at all in support of killing her.
Someone had the idea of capturing her. They did that and locked her in a room.
Eventually they turned her into an exhibit. Then a few years after the zombie war, it was revealed that the zombie wasn't Emma Watson after all. It was just someone that looked like her. What happened is that someone found the REAL Emma Watson zombie. She had been locked in a room in a mansion for over a decade.
So now at the zoo they have the real Emma Watson and the fake Emma Watson. They're in the same enclosure together.
There's a bunch of other celebrities as well. Adam Levine. He was a musician. Bill Gates. He was this really rich guy.
Who else?
Oh. Andrew Lincoln. He was a British actor. Ironically he had starred in a zombie TV show. But in the show he wasn't a zombie.
Real life had handed him a different role. It's too bad. He was quite handsome. Although if he hadn't been a zombie, he'd be 101 years-old now.
There's some people who are working on a cure for the zombie condition. They want to reverse it. Then we'd have all these celebrities back as their old selves. It would be kind of cool in a Rip Van Winkle type way. But I think it's a bit far-fetched.
I don't think the scientists have gotten very far.
I read an editorial that talks about how it would be really hard for all the people who killed zombies. How would they feel knowing that they could have saved their daughter, son (or whatever) instead of shooting them in the brains?
It would probably be very hard…depressing.
I've read some statistics. If you add the zombies in the five zombie zoos worldwide to those being studied by scientists there are about 750 captured zombies out there. About 200 originated in the first years of the outbreak. Four-hundred were taken during the war. Then the rest were taken after that. Twenty have been captured since I was born.
On top of that, there are the zombies that are being kept illegally and secretively. Who knows how many that is....

Okay. If you can't tell; I'm a little obsessed with zombies.
I find the whole history fascinating.
I love hearing my grandma's stories. She doesn't hate talking about them.
The really bad stuff happened when she was young. I mean losing her family. After that it was kind of an adventure…a dark one, yeah. There was death around her; but no one she was really close to.
She didn't have to go to school. That's one thing.
She spent most of her childhood playing.
And hiding.
Life was rough because there was no electricity; but that's all she knew. She never had it any other way.
Then when she was ten, they got the power back on. It was in a simple form. As I said before, the internet didn't return until she was in her twenties.
There was a bit of TV though. She had three channels. She had radio. They had a washing machine and dryer….air conditioning. Microwaves.
My grandma loves telling me about all this. And she has some great gruesome zombie stories as well.
My grandpa is a bit different. He doesn't like talking about it, and he gets annoyed when grandma talks about it. So she talks about it when he's not around.
It's not like he had worse things happen. He didn't lose any family members. He did lose a friend though; and it happened in front of him. That's bad. But if you're going to compare stories; I think my grandma had it worse. She lost her mom, dad, and sister.
I think it's just that people feel things differently. My grandma has this attitude of what happens happens and you better just make the best of it. She tends to have a dark sense of humor about bad things.
My grandpa is more of a brooder.
He started seeing a therapist when my mom was young because he became really paranoid and overprotective.
He's still seeing the therapist.
My grandpa will jump and get really tense if he hears any type of knocking or banging noise. Grandma says he's scared a zombie's trying to break in.
He carries a gun whenever he goes outside and is a card carrying member of a pro-gun organizations.
He keeps insisting that I learn how to use a gun. My mom tells him no way. I'm kind of on her side on that one…well, seeing that I've encountered only one zombie my whole life.
